Attendify offers an easy-to-use DIY platform, enabling not-so-tech-savvy users to build a beautiful, eye-catching, and engaging event app experience without having to worry about learning code or design.

From time to time we have clients ask if they can use their app from last year for the same event this year - perhaps they are in a pinch for time or don't want to ask their users to download a new app. The answer depends greatly on a few factors, but a general rule of thumb is that reusing an already-published app for a different event could potentially be helpful at first, but Attendify apps were not built to be reused.

There are a few situations that you should be aware of if you are considering reusing one of your apps:

  • Analytics are unable to be reset. This can cause difficulties in calculating unique event-specific data such as your app’s adoption rate or attendee engagement percentages. The analytics panel (including the Leaderboard) will show total numbers for all historical and current app activity.
  • Attendee profiles can be removed, but cannot be added back again (branded apps). You are able to delete attendee profiles, but if a user is coming back to this year’s event (or one in the future)  after being deleted they won’t ever be able to log in using that same email address, nor can you restore an old profile that has been deleted.
  • The Activity Stream posts from last year are not able to be removed in bulk. You are able to keep the photos and messages or delete them manually in the app management section. Doing this can take a significant amount of time and effort.
  • There’s no way to prevent users from receiving push notifications. If there are users from last year not attending this year but they still have the app on their device, they will receive any messages that are sent.

In order to provide the best experience for you and your users it’s always recommended to build a new app or event each time.
