1. Youtube Live Streaming Integration

In order to set up Live Streaming on Youtube and embed it into your event on Attendify, you would need to enable embedding settings on Youtube. To access the embedding settings on Youtube, you must have monetization features enabled.

The minimum requirements for a channel to be able to use monetization features include the following:

  • Your channel has more than 4,000 valid public watch hours within the last 12 months
  • Your channel has more than 1,000 subscribers.
  • Your channel has a linked AdSense account.

Please refer to the full list of requirements for enabling monetization features here.

Moreover, Youtube currently allows only Public Youtube Steams to be embedded.

(saving of unlisted non-monetized video links is technically possible, but once a viewer opens such a stream on Attendify, the video will get automatically banned).

2. Youtube Video Integration

Youtube allows embedding of the videos without any restrictions.

Attendify Integration supports Public and Unlisted Youtube Videos. Private Youtube Video links are not supported through the integration.

It is important to note when uploading your own video to your Youtube channel, that Youtube prioritizes the ability for content owners to control who is able to watch the content. That is why your video may fall into certain restrictions based on your video content that could prevent the videos to display through Attendify Mobile Experience either for all or only for certain attendees.

Youtube content restrictions include the following:

  • Geographic restrictions: some videos may be restricted in certain countries. This restriction applies to where the attendee is located.
  • Limited syndication (syndication = reruns of content owned by a third-party): even if you allow syndication, the content owner could override that and disallow syndication. For example, this could happen if you upload a video that contains a soundtrack that is owned by another content owner.

❗️Music Copyright Claims is a frequent restriction that prevents attendees from accessing Youtube Videos on Attendify Mobile Experience. Learn more here.

  • Other Restrictions: some videos are only playable on a certain set of domains and are not available for mobile integration. According to Youtube, the only foolproof way to know if an attendee has access to watch a video is to have them try watching it.

To make sure your Youtube video is available for all attendees across various devices during the event, we recommend following the next steps.

Step 1. Keep an eye on the status of your video inside the Youtube Studio. Specifically, please check the Visibility and Restrictions columns.

If the video contains a Restriction and/or has a Partially blocked status under the Visibility column, please try to edit your video to meet the Youtube requirements, and upload the video to Youtube Studio again.

📌 If your video content for some reason is of a nature that cannot bypass Youtube requirements, you would not be able to provide all your attendees with access to the videos through Attendify Mobile Experience. Please consider switching to other video integration options: Vimeo, Wistia.

Step 2. Test. Test. Test: We recommend you test the videos on Attendfiy Mobile and Virtual Experience across various devices and locations in advance of your event.

3. Setting Up Youtube Sessions on Attendify

You can add a Youtube Video or Youtube Live Stream to the event schedule in a few easy steps:

  • click the "+" icon to add a new session to your agenda
  • in the pop-up window, scroll down to Live Streaming & Video
  • select Youtube in the drop-down menu
  • embed your Youtube link and configure Start Time & End Time for the session to control when it's going to appear within your Attendify platform

4. Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How can I restrict access to my Youtube sessions? Can I hide the ability for attendees to open Youtube sessions directly from Youtube?

A: You can restrict access to any sessions on Attendify with the help of the following functionality: Session Registration, Personalized Schedule, Hidden Schedule feature. However, it is not possible to remove the ability for attendees to copy the Youtube stream or video link.

Q2: Is it possible to stream from Attendify to Youtube and other social networks?

A: Currently such a functionality is not supported. You can only stream through the Youtube Integration to Attendify.

Q3: Will my Youtube Stream be saved automatically?

A: Every stream is automatically saved and archived by YouTube itself, but only if it's less than 12 hours long. In case your stream is longer, it will not be saved by Youtube at all.

Q4: How can I test my videos and stream on Attendify before the event?

A: You can create a separate Schedule feature visible to your test group only (here's how). Then just add your sessions to the Schedule and set up the sessions time according to the date & time of actual testing.

Q5: I want to set up a single session that will have two links: a pre-recorded Youtube video following by a live Q&A. How can I do that?

A: We have only one video/stream integration setting per single session, so we recommend to create two separate sessions instead. The attendees will need to click through to join the following session. As a workaround, you can consider changing your pre-recorded video link to the live Q&A link in the middle of your session. However, the attendees participating will need to reload the page in order to see the update.
